Will The Faithful And Discreet Slave/GB Pay Out Millions In Child Molestation Lawsuit In This Fateful Year 2014 ?
by frankiespeakin inwatchtower corporate newspaper study article say the faithful slave will never be unfaithful.
then i guess multimillion dollar lawsuits losses over willful malfeaance don't count as unfaithfulness in the slave definition of terms..

Meeting Today
by lambsbottom inme and the spouse looked over the wt and decided it wouldn't be in our best spiritual interest to stay for the wt (we usually don't anymore).. so, took the kids to the public talk (was actually great, nice brother), took them outside for a snack and snuggled/played...and then left (an hour early).. .
felt great!
gotta do what you know is best for you spiritually!

That thing about the "Ark" is also noteworthy. Aren't the public talks scripted? Someone told him to draw that ark. Is this a clue about the lifesaving instructions that are coming down soon?

How do you think members of the "public" are made to feel when they walk inside the Kindgom Hall?? I will tell you my experience.
We came in, wearing our Sunday best. I think we were camouflaged fairly well. We even brought our old NWT's (this was before the release of the new version). I did forget our songbooks, but someone else lent us theirs.
As I handed it back to her at the end of the meeting, I said, "I knew I forgot somethiing!" and smiled as I thanked her. She looked at me sideways, smiling but suspiciously asked, "Where are you from?" I told her we were from another congregation but hadn't been attending for awhile. We came to try to "catch up" on the latest. She said, "Yeah! It was a good one this week!" (the week of Sept 8, when they rewrote the definition of the FDS, etc.) I agreed, as we high-tailed it out of there.
Everyone was lingering afterward, getting ready for the service work. Not a single person greeted us, aside from the woman who lent us the songbook. It was creepy and the air was so heavy with a feeling of burden. I felt like we were crashing a funeral, and the attendees were all just pretending to be friends with each other.
When my husband and I first started going to meetings, about 9 years ago, you had to fight off the JW's. They were all over you, with questions and curiosity, like you were a new shiny toy. We visited 2 KH's last fall, and neither one welcomed us in a way that was encouraging or friendly. We couldn't wait to get out of there, and had no desire to return. Ever.
I am just SO so glad we got out of that cult before jumping into the pool. Oppressive doesn't begin to describe it.

Don't Question GOD! (aka the governing body)
by sunny23 indid a simple search in the wt library for words like, "question," "questioning," "doubts/ing,"obey," "understand.".
these are listed in order of occurence oldest to newest (up to 2012 as my library is 2012 version).
"if we have love for jehovah and for the organization of his people we shall not be suspicious, but shall, as the bible says, 'believe all things,' all the things that the watchtower brings out"qualified to be ministers (1955) p.156.

JW's don't need to understand it, they just need to be ready to OBEY, no matter what kind of lifesaving instructions they receive.
They want them confused and scared, afraid to turn anywhere else... Where else can they go?
Your relationship with Jehovah depends on the faithful and discreet slave. What else needs explaining?
Just drink, swallow, and then raise your hand to repeat it back into the microphone.
Awareness leads to independent thinking, which is not allowed. OBEY and be blessed. DISOBEY or even murmur, and be dead.

My take on the meeting yesterday.
by integ insome of you are aware of where i'm at with this whole thing.
i still occasionally go to meetings for family reasons but my attendance has been lack luster at best.
i'd say i go about once a month if that.. i empathize with those who are wary of taking the ultimate stand for fear of losing their family.

This sums it up for me. Being an outsider, and going back for a visit in September, was a jarring experience:
When you step away from the daily witness grind and then pop in for a meeting or two you see it with more accurate eyes.
But this... makes me sick to my stomach. I don't know why, but I thought people would have learned lessons from history, regarding blind obedience:
The dubs were putting on a show to compete to show just how loyal they could be... they would fight over the last cup...
Yikes!

Hey mothers! Quit using your babies as an excuse not to be out in service more.
It's never too early to reinforce in your young ones, the importance of our ministry work. Get those toddlers out there, as there is a great possibility that they will never grow old! What better reward can a child have, than knowing they have served Jehovah faithfully from INFANCY!!

by Brainfloss inmatthew 28:18-20 states.
...18and jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
19"go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that i commanded you; and lo, i am with you always, even to the end of the age.. what are all of the things jesus commanded?.

I love this question! I am on chapter 16 of an in-depth study of the book of Matthew, and for the first time am reading for myself, what Jesus ACTUALLY said. The whole book seems to be in direct opposition to the way JW's behave and teach. They are the modern day pharisees, with so many rules and judgments cast upon each other and people of the world, they don't know what they believe, except of course that Jesus is Jehovah's subordinate. They do not follow his commands, from what I have observed. I was never baptized, so maybe they are practicing some righteousness in secret, that we can not see... But their sheep's clothing is not covering the true nature of the society they serve with such vigor.
A few examples that have stood out to me:
"Take care not to practice your righteousness in front of men to be noticed by them, otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens." Matthew 6:1 (Why are JW's required to report every deed and hour they do in field service, to be recognized by their elders and maintain positions within the organization? If you were to practice your field service in secret, what would the response be from the men in the congregation?) "...so that your gifts of mercy may be in secret. Then your Father who looks on you in secret may repay you." Matthew 6:4
"Love one another, as I have loved you." (Unless they are not JW's, and even if they are, be wise who you associate with!) The parable of the Good Samaritan, is a stark contrast to how JW's act toward anyone who is not parroting the party line, and keeping themselves "in good standing," through their reporting requirements.
"Stop judging that you may not be judged." Matthew 7:1
"All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them." Matthew 7:12
The JW's do not donate to charity, but spend all their time and efforts working to distribute Watchtower publications. When I asked my sister why do JW's not do as Jesus commanded, she replied: "That was just an example. What we do is more important than giving to a food bank or homeless shelter."
In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 25:31-46, in the parable of the sheep and goats:
41 "Then he will say to those on his left: Go away from me, you who have been cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the Devail and his angels. For I became hungry, but you gave me nothing to eat' and I was thirsty, but you gave me nothing to drink. I was a stranger, but you did not receive me hospitably' naked, but you did not clothe me; sick and in prison, but you did not look after me.' Then they too will answer with the words: "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you?' Then he will answer them, saying, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of these least ones, you did not do it to me.'

Good for you, making steps away from the indoctrination! It sounds like you had a lovely afternoon.
I'm not trying to be negative, but the public talks are "encouraging?"
As a member of the public, I must disagree. After not going to meetings for about 2 years, we decided to visit and observe during the month of September, as new light was revealed. I wanted to see the reactions first hand.
The public talk was strange and sort of creepy. The nice man who was speaking, kept saying there were over "Ten thousand million" angels!!!
The public talk we heard the next week was so full of subliminal messages and blatant phrases like, "Jehovah will deliver us." "Remain united in Jehovah!" "Our important work has never been more urgent!"
They are encouraging you to remain as servants. They are encouraging to JW's perhaps, but you have to have a JW mindset to appreciate them. If you miss a few meetings and go back, I think you might notice the heaviness in the air at the KH. I felt oppressed and had a hard time sitting through the whole speech. Every cell in my body was telling me to leave immediately, and obviously.
We did stay for the WT study also, so this is probably tainting my memory a lot. The comments I heard from people about 1914 and the changes they were making... mind-jarring.
I wish you and your family all the best. I just wanted to share my impressions of the public talks, as a non-JW. Not encouraging or uplifting to us, and the songs are like funeral dirges.

Getting bariatric surgery in March!
by marmot inafter being on a waiting list for three and a half years i've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and am going under the knife for a gastric sleeve operation in march.
i can't tell you how pumped i am because i'll finally be able to re-take my life after being severely overweight for several years.
i gained a ton of weight after being put on meds for bipolar disorder and it made exercising a painful chore.

I lost half my body weight in about 18 months. I was left with excess skin on my abdomen, that the insurance paid for to be removed. I feel great!
I know people who have had the sleeve, with great success. At the time I had my surgery, it was a pretty new procedure, and my surgeon thought I might qualify, since my bim was 55, but we opted for the RNY, since it was already approved. I do not get the dumping syndrome, and I only puked twice, at the very beginning.
Your success will depend greatly on your following the instructions. It is hard, and a lifelong battle. You can do it. I know the liquid diet is hard, but it will soon be a distant memory, especially once you are back to your old, active self again!
